Build a Custom Chair

Seating designed and constructed to ground the user and the chair, safely controlling electrostatic discharge and tested to meet ANSI/ESD STM 12.1

Concave upholstered seat with internal seat board bumperguard; measures 18.5" wide x 16.5" deep x 3" thick.

All chair components treated to assure grounding through the chair to ESD flooring or mat. This includes the use of conductive casters or glides, metal bases, ground control lead to assure thorough static drain if casters become insulated by dirt or dust, ESD upholstery materials, and metal-to-metal contact throughout the chair for all metal parts.

Streamlined upholstered backrest with lumbar support and plastic protective panel; measures 14.5" wide x 9.5" high.

Small, five-legged tubular base with caster-to-caster diameter of 23.0" and maximum width of 22.8". Welded 1" x 14-gauge steel tubular legs ensure uncompromised strength, withstanding test loads of 2x BIFMA strength requirements. Features standard 50mm, steel-reinforced, tapered hub (1° 26' 16" (Morse) taper) with gauge line elevation of 203mm from the caster insert plane. Steel tubular ring (tube: 1" by 18-gauge, ring: 21" dia.) welded to top of legs. A reinforced nylon insert at the end of each leg adapts the 1" x 14-gauge leg to accept a caster or glide stem. The welds at the hub are concealed by a two-piece, polypropylene cover.

For medium height work surfaces such as workbenches 33" to 40" high. Provides a range of 21" - 28".

Two inches in height, with dual soft-wheels. Casters resist movement when the seat is unoccupied. Plastic collar around caster stem to match base. Black tread indicates an ESD caster.

Control allows function of the seat height activation and backrest adjustments by means of easily engaged levers which can be activated from the seated position. Seat tilt is fixed at 3-1/2° rearward while the backrest adjusts 8° forward and 13° rearward.
